Split beds are an excellent choice for hotels and guest accommodations, offering versatility without sacrificing luxury. However, some providers might find the details of split bed sizes and compatible linen options a bit confusing. Here’s a clear guide to split beds, their dimensions, and how to select the right bedding for a seamless guest experience.

Understanding Split Bed Options

Vendella offers split beds in King and Super King sizes in the Makers Midnight Mattress range with options for different mattress densities.

Whichever size you choose to go for, Makers Split and Zipped mattresses can be conveniently joined using a built-in zipper, providing flexibility to set up either as a single large bed or two separate singles. A quick note, some erroneously believe that two King Singles (107W x 203L) join to form a King Split.  Instead, this results in similar sizing to a California King, although these dimensions vary by manufacturer.

So, what bedding do I use with Split Beds?

Vendella’s new range of split and zipped bedding further enhances convenience for accommodations. With the Split Mattress Protector, Topper, and Duvet Inner, transforming a King or Super King bed into two long singles is now simpler than ever. This versatile bedding solution saves time and storage space—just split the bed and bedding without needing to manage additional inventory. When split, Makers King Split mattresses form two Narrow Long Single beds (83.5 cm x 203 cm each). So, when separated, use the following bedding:

• Narrow Single Mattress Protectors, Single Toppers, and Single flat sheeting

• Fitted Single will be too small and King Single too wide

• Narrow Single-fitted Quilts work best, although standard “not fitted” top-of-bed options can also work

Makers Super King Split mattresses split into two Long Single beds (91.5 cm x 203 cm), which are slightly larger than standard Single beds (91 cm x 188 cm). Use the following bedding when split :

• Single or King Single Protector and Topper and Long Single fitted items such as valances and fitted sheets

• For fitted quilts, Single items are suitable.

Should I buy King or Super King Split Beds for my property?

Super King Split beds make linen selection easier and more convenient, especially when space allows. Super King Split beds have more readily available Long Single bedding options, while standard Single or Double (non-fitted) bedcovers work well on both sizes. Super King Split is the recommended choice for better accessibility, flexibility and more luxury. King Splits are designed to suit smaller rooms.

Base Options for Split Beds

Vendella’s Makers Commercial Bed Base supports the entire Makers Midnight range, arriving in a kit set for fast, cost-effective delivery. Assembly is simple, requiring only bolts for four brackets, a center rail, and wooden slats. Glides or castors of varying heights are available for customizable bed heights. In split configurations, joining plates keep the bases secure when paired, or these plates can be swapped for individual gliders or castors when used as separate beds.
