Why are your bed bases not assembled? – Pros and Cons of a kitset bed base.

There is only one disadvantage to supplying a kit set – and that is that it cannot be used instantly.  Having said that, assembly of our Makers Commercial Bed Base takes approximately 8 minutes with two people on the job, and the future-proofing advantages definitely outweigh the apparent short-term disadvantages of having to assemble a kitset.  Once installed, the appearance of a Makers kitset Bed Base is no less attractive and durable than made up bed base.

The kitset arrives in two compact cartons which can be effortlessly moved by 1-2 people through narrow doorways, into elevators or up tight stairways into the required bedroom space ready for installation, rather than sweating it out trying to manhandle an awkward bulky and fully assembled base in the same manner!  

When you order a bed base, we can despatch the kit immediately being an in-stock item (you do not have to wait weeks for it to be made like other commercial bed bases) As the kits are in compact flat-pack form, they are much easier and more cost effective to transport, this means they can also be stored in the same compact manner on site so you never need to worry about waiting for a spare base in the event of damage to a bed base in the room.  Additionally, due to its kitset nature, certain components like the wooden bed slats, bed feet and the base upholstery covering can be easily replaced if damaged, faded or stained – which is not available on pre-assembled bed bases. This is a cost-effective option opposed to having to expensively replace the complete bed base.
