While the idea of sleeping on pillows made of plastic might seem odd, it’s a step towards a greener future.
The answer lies in the fact that the DreamGreen range uses recycled plastic that would otherwise end up in landfills or the ocean. By using this material, the range reduces the dependence on virgin petroleum-based materials, which are typically used to create bedding products. By using recycled plastic, we can decrease the amount of waste that ends up in landfills and oceans, while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the manufacturing process.
The problem with this type of waste waste is a global issue that affects our planet’s ecosystems and wildlife. It is estimated that approximately 8 million tons of plastic waste end up in the ocean each year, where marine life is harmed and it pollutes the environment. By using recycled plastic in the DreamGreen range, Vendella is helping to tackle this problem by utlising a material that is already readily available and would otherwise go to waste.
The DreamGreen range provides a sustainable solution to the issue while also providing consumers with a high-quality product that is comfortable and durable. The recycled plastic used in the range is transformed into a soft, breathable, and hypoallergenic microfibre that is perfect for bedding products such as pillows and duvet inners.
Great question! The process of creating microfibre from plastic waste varies slightly from when you make microfibre for the fill. We don’t keep secrets, so here is how we create our microfibre.
Premium quality plastic waste that is already in circulation is collected, such as bottles and packaging. The plastic waste is sorted, cleaned, and processed to remove any impurities or contaminants.
The sorted and cleaned plastic waste is then transformed into flakes using a process called shredding. The shredding process cuts it into small pieces that can be easily transformed into microfibre.
The flakes are then fed through a series of machines that melt and spin them into ultra-fine microfibre. The resulting microfibre are thinner than a human hair and are uniform in size.
The microfibre are then carded and processed to create the fill for pillows, duvet inners, and other bedding products. This process involves the fibres being separated and arranged in a specific way to create the desired loft and texture of the fill.
Finally, the DreamGreen microfibre fill is used to create pillows, duvets, and other bedding products. These products are designed to offer the same comfort and durability as bedding products made from virgin materials, but with the added benefit of being eco-friendly and sustainable.
We believe our DreamGreen range is a great example of how businesses can recycle plastic waste to create high-quality, luxury products while taking part in helping the environment. By using recycled plastic in our DreamGreen range, together we can reduce the dependence on virgin petroleum-based materials, reduce greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing, and tackle this global waste issue.
