BACKGROUND
Southern Cross Horticulture is a family-owned operation that has been planting, growing and developing Kiwifruit for more than 40 years. Priding themselves as industry turn-key developers focused on creating and managing world class orchards, Southern Cross Horticulture provide the complete life cycle of a kiwifruit orchard. Among others, having an 88-hectare orchard in Edgecumbe meant that they required a good labour source that would be able to live onsite. Employing RSE workers from all around the Pacific, they have built a brand-new purpose-built accommodation facility in Edgecumbe, which Vendella was privileged be involved in, by offering advice and providing fit-for-purpose product to furnish the village.
THE PROJECT
Michelle and her team have created a village that has the capacity to accommodate 96x staff that will enhance the lives of those that live there, by providing a safe, and comfortable enviroment with bright colourful touches to reference the vibrant pacific colours of home.
PROBLEMS WE SOLVED / REASONS FOR PARTNERING WITH VENDELLA
Southern Cross Horticulture chose to work with Vendella due to their experience in this sector and ability to stock and supply a large range of fit-for–purpose product. They were seeking a “one stop shop” to supply furnishings for the village and a consistent product range when replacement was required was of high priority. Vendella made it easy for Michelle and her team by saving her valuable time on this project allowing her to focus on the build component knowing the furnishing was taken care of. Having the ability to co-ordinate delivery in stages to suit the project timeline was also a huge help.
