The relationship between Vendella and Stewart Island Backpackers was crucial to the success of the project. Liaising effectively meant that stock arrived when it needed to.
With our fit-for-purpose dispatch centre, Vendella were able to hold stock for Stewart Island Backpackers, and dispatch the goods when required. This made the refurbishment project much more efficient.
BACKGROUND
Conveniently located in the heart of Halfmoon Bay, Stewart Island Backpackers is just 3-minutes’ drive to the Fern Gully entrance to the Rakiura Track, one of New Zealand’s Great Walks. Offering clean and comfortable accommodation along with a range of different rooms types, catering to families and backpackers alike. The opportunity arose in 2016 for current hosts – Aaron & Carol Jay and their daughters to run the property, safe to say it did not take them long to make their minds up! Stewart Island Backpackers is the perfect place to stay for those wanting to take advantage of the many walks in the area, fish, experience the local wildlife, or just to relax.
THE PROJECT
Stewart Island Backpackers required strategic delivery options to best work with their timeline. Wanting to upgrade their rooms and offer more options, Aaron and Carol contacted Vendella to see how we could help them with their project which included supplying new beds and bedding to the property. We were able to assist them by staggering their delivery, and supplying the beds as they needed them, giving them time to get the old beds out of the rooms and the new ones installed, along with the bedding for the rooms. Being a popular and busy backpackers due to it’s location, it was important that the upgrade was strategically planned to minimise downtime for the property.
PROBLEMS WE SOLVED / REASONS FOR PARTNERING WITH VENDELLA
We were able to supply exactly what they wanted, when they needed it. By having a large warehouse and stockholding ability, we are able to strategically plan deliveries to best suit our customers. Having a good relationship was very important to make sure things ran smoothly, as logistics to Stewart Island don’t always run smoothly. Making sure communication was front of mind from both parties made the project a success.
