Background.
A new independent living option has opened for students at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. Situated in the heart of Wellington’s vibrant city center, Whānau Mārama Apartments offers self-catered accommodation. While catered halls of residence are often a preferred way for first-year students to get used to university life, independent accommodation such as Whānau Mārama Apartments offers more flexibility and independence for students in their second year and above.
Students can have their own apartment at Whānau Mārama or share it with one other student. The property can accommodate over 100 students, with 41 one-bedroom apartments, 36 two-bedroom apartments, and one three-bedroom apartment. All apartments are furnished and have private bathrooms and cooking facilities. The first students have taken up residence in February 2024.
The Project.
Victoria University chose Vendella for this project as we had worked together before. Also, they also knew Vendella would be able to meet the very tight timeframe and offer a great customer experience. The Whānau Mārama apartment’s consist of 41 one-bedroom apartments or 36 two-bedroom apartments and one three-bedroom apartment. Vendella was given the opportunity to supply these apartments with bedding, kitchenware, along with bedframes and mattresses. Furthermore, the bedding and kitchenware were packed into kits by the team at Vendella, and allocated to the various apartments for the arrival of the students. Supplying the product in kits made unpacking and setup quick and efficient for the Victoria University team

As a student accommodation provider, it was important for Victoria University to have the apartments ready by the project deadline when students arrived. In aid this, Vendella helped to meet timelines by providing fast, reliable and efficient service.
